During the clubs history, there have been many matches that have caught the eye of the football public.
One such match occured 30 years ago at White Hart lane, home of Tottenham Hotspur.
During the 1976/77 season, I was one of the lucky few who witnessed one of the most memorable matches in the club's history when The Robins stormed into a 3-0 lead at White Hart lane in a 3rd round League cup tie. Spurs hit back with two goals of their own, but we held on for a magnificent win, Mickey Thomas playing a blinder.
Two seasons later, and in our debut season in the Second Division we were paired with Tottenham in a 4th round FA Cup tie. Again I was lucky to make the trip to London, and yet again the boys came up trumps.
Memories of the game are patchy, but I remember us leading three times only to be pegged back every time. This time it was Bobby Shinton who dazzled, scoring one and playing superbly throughout the game. John Lyons scored Wrexham's other goals in a pulsating 3-3 draw. A late goal gave Spurs a lucky draw, but we looked forward to finishing them off in the replay.
And so to the Racecourse and the replay. Another thriller, This time we had to come from behind and forced extra time with a late equaliser. The ground erupted when we took the lead, Dixie if my memory serves me.
Sadly this time there was to be no happy ending. Argentinian Ricky Villa set up Two extra time goals for Chris Jones to get a Hat trick for Spurs and with it a 3-2 win.
