Wrexham v Altrincham
13th April 2009
Match preview
Wrexham host Altrincham today for the first time in a league match. The only previous fixture at the Racecourse was way back in November 1963 in an FA Cup replay which the dragons won 3-0. Wrexham's season has come to an abrupt end in recent weeks, with some poor results leaving them in tenth place, and well of the playoff places.
Wrexham's form continues to be of concern to Dean Saunders, although Saturday's 1-0 defeat was harsh on the Dragons, who deserved at least a share of the points.
Altrincham have avoided their usual relegation battle this season, and are currently fifteenth in the table with forty nine points, seven clear of the drop. The Robins recent form has been poor, recording only one win in eleven outings.
The teams have met twice this season, the league fixture in August finished 1-1, whilst Wrexham won 2-1 in November in a Setanta shield tie. This fixture has a real end of season look about it, with both sides safe and playing only for pride.
Prediction 2-1 home win
