Wrexham V Grays Athletic

Last updated : 16 February 2009 By Gvred

St. Valentine's Day sees the visit of Grays Athletic to the Racecourse for the first time.

In the corresponding fixture at The New Rec on September 20th 2008, Grays beat Wrexham with two first half goals from on loan striker Kieron St Amie. Despite an early second half strike from Levi Mackin, Grays held on to inflict a third defeat in four games on Brian Little's side.

Move on five months and a rejuvenated Wrexham are sitting in a playoff position. Grays recent League form is impressive; they are currently in 21st place occupying the final relegation berth.
A league double over Ebbsfleet United along with a creditable away draw at Stevenage Borough has kept Grays in touch and they are sure to give Wrexham a tough game.

Wrexham's recent form is patchy. Although unbeaten since a 1-0 defeat at Kidderminster in late November, draws against Barrow, Woking and Northwich Victoria have seriously harmed the reds promotion aspirations.
However impressive displays against Cambridge United at home and a hard fought draw at Torquay United prove that the quick tempo game that we have adopted can pay dividends.
