WREXHAM FC owner Alex Hamilton last night claimed a £10m bid for the Racecourse ground was on the table from a building firm as administration nears.
The controversial
As it stands Wrexham AFC would stand to gain £4m if the housing deal went through, however would see themselves without a ground to play in from July and would have to play across the boarder in either
According to Mr Hamilton, the remaining balance, as well as investment from new ownership of the club would more or less provide the money needed to build a new, smaller stadium for Wrexham elsewhere in the town or beyond, however, it is unlikely that such a prospect could be fully engaged in time for Wrexham’s 2005/06 campaign in either League One or League Two.
Despite rejecting two WST bids to buy the club and ground and ignoring a bid from fans’ enemy Mark Guterman, Hamilton estimates the total of what he wants for his ownership in the club is “in the region of £370,000” which would be “no more than I paid for the shared in the first place, together with repayment of my loans to the club and the interest on that money.”
It is unlikely thought that a housing firm would take on the Racecourse Ground land, given the fact the council wants the land to be used for local, national and international sporting events.
