Wrexham boss Dean Saunders hopes to complete the signing of former Lincoln City and Gillingham defender Arron Brown for the rest of the season. While Senegalese striker Lamine Sakho's contract has been terminated and is set to return to France to find a new club.

But 30-year-old Brown, who has played as a Wrexham trialist in recent reserve games, has agreed to play for Saunders' men for the remaining eight games.

The Welsh club are awaiting Blue Square Premier and international clearance.

Brown appeared just three times for League Two side Burton Albion this season but has joined Wrexham on a short-term deal after training at the Racecourse.

Brown hopes to make Wrexham debut against Histon Town in the Blue Square Premier League on Saturday.

Sakho, meanwhile, has left after scoring just once in 18 games for Wrexham.

But the former Leeds United and Marseille striker was the subject of internal disciplinary in his nine-month stay at the Racecourse.

The 32-year-old was dismissed after head-butting Hayes and Yeading defender Esmond James in a 2-0 defeat in November and underwent club action as well as a three-match ban.

"Following talks with Dean Saunders, Lamine Sakho has agreed to cancel his contract," read a Wrexham statement.
