WREXHAM manager Brian Carey is confident loan signing Matty Collins will be a useful addition to the squad.
"Overall, Matty showed enough to demonstrate that when he settles in he will do a good job for us," said Carey.
"He was excellent in the first half, but after Shrewsbury scored we were guilty as a team of bypassing the midfield players and getting the ball forward as quickly as possible.
"It's never easy coming into a derby game and it was difficult for him as well in terms of how the opposition played, but if we can get the ball down and play he will be fine."
Wrexham have a chance to bounce back after the Shrewsbury defeat when Wycombe visit the Racecourse on Wednesday evening.
Trinidad international Silvio Spann, who served a one-match ban at the weekend, is available again and, with Michael Carvill ruled out through injury, could find himself playing on the right alongside Collins and Robbie Garrett.
"Michael picked up a dead leg just before half-time and will need a week or so to recover," added the Racecourse boss.
"But we have Silvio back and the one thing you get from him is quality delivery into the penalty area. That's something we have been missing, but Silvio gets into good areas and is capable of providing a spark when you need it.
"The same is true of Matty Done, who looked lively when he came on on Sunday.
"The pair of them have the ability to be busy, creative and energetic and they have a bit of pace as well, which gets the supporters excited and on their feet.
"But we stopped working the ball to Matty on Sunday when we went a goal down, which was disappointing from my point of view."
Carey is still looking to add to his squad.
"We made inquiries about 18 players last week and, for one reason or another, we got nowhere," Carey added.
"But we are still trying to add some new faces and that will continue."
Wrexham are issuing a free junior ticket with every adult ticket sold for tomorrow's game, an offer which also applies to season-ticket holders, but they must be collected from the ticket office prior to the 7.45pm kick-off.
