"We are getting a little bit closer with a couple of things, and one club has agreed to a loan deal, but now it's a case of waiting to hear from the player concerned," he said.
"He will be told about our interest when he goes in to work tomorrow morning and we'll have to take it from there. It's a question really of whether he fancies the challenge or not.
"He is in his early 20s, so he has the right sort of experience, but to be honest we don't have a lot of choices at the moment and we could do with him coming to help us out."
Wrexham are bottom of League 2 and face local rivals Shrewsbury on Sunday at the Racecourse.
