"We got forward a bit more tonight and it was a different game to Saturday. Everybody got used to it again on Saturday, what it was all about, and we took a step forward again tonight.
"What we wanted out of the game tonight was for the lads to go out and work hard for 45 minutes, try to do the basic things right, and that was all we asked them to do.
"I was happy with both halves but it is different when you know that you are only playing for 45 minutes. When you know that you are only playing for that length of time, you can just go for it. Eventually you want to get them doing that for 90 minutes, but they did it for 45 minutes and we're pleased.
"I think all three trialists contributed fairly well and all made a difference, the two strikers are something different to that we have already got. Robin is an 18-year-old and it was a big ask for him tonight, he showed some good touches at times but they all did well. They all will be here for another couple of weeks yet.
"Neil Taylor had another good game, he did well again tonight, he is a player with good quality. We've known for sometime what he can do and he's done himself no hard.
"We have been back a couple of weeks now and we need to keep on plugging away at it. Everybody has shown willing and they lads have enjoyed what they have been doing for the last few weeks, they are realising what we are here for. I know that I keep going back to last season but it can't be allowed to happen again and we are working extremely hard to make sure that it doesn't.
"It was a very early game for Blackburn as well, we are delighted with the calibre of players that they have brought here tonight, and that was terrific for everybody who turned up here to see. It's great to see those lads in action and I know as a player myself that you don't want to come out of it looking bad, you try that little bit harder yourself. That's the nature of the best I suppose but it was a good night for everybody. They have got a busy schedule themselves, they are off to Germany, but they were glad of the run-out as well.
"Tonight we were virtually back to a tried and trusted system that everybody is used too and we didn't really experiment as much as we have done, possibly because of the people that we had on view. The system that you use is dictated by the players that you have, and we thought that was the best way to go tonight. We are working on a lot of things, we don't want to be known for being just one type of team, we've got players who can do an awful lot, for instance the likes of Mark Jones who can get you fifteen to twenty goals a season if we can get him in the right positions. We got to play to our strengths and to the individuals that we have got here.
