Carey has been working flat out during the summer to bring in new faces to the Racecourse Ground and is relishing the start of the new season.
He said: "In a strange way we didn't really want last season to end, as we hit some form towards the end of the campaign.
"What happened was a good lesson to everybody at the club and we all needed a breather, but we've had a long break and are itching to get going.
"We've brought in a couple of new players, Richard Hope from Shrewsbury and Eifion Williams from Hartlepool. They will be crucial for us as they played in teams that were winning and we need that in our squad."

He said: "I had a chance meeting with him at Manchester United's training ground, Carrington. I spoke to him about a few things and it was good to get the opportunity to pick his brains."
Wrexham open their League Two campaign against Darlington on Saturday.
