"Brian knows you live by results on the football field. Obviously, if it keeps going as it is, things would have to change."
Dickens is aware of the pressure from the supporters who are not happy with what they see on the field. The Chairman though is trying to give Carey the time to turn it around and hopes the fans will to.
"We can understand the fans' frustration, they pay their money and are entitled to their opinion," he said.
"But we're a bit closer to it and we know Brian's ability. We're confident in his ability.
"Time will tell, but I'm sure he will turn it round. The signs are there. The squad is too good to be languishing down near the bottom of the division.
"I want to give Brian the chance, without even considering changes at this juncture.
"Patience is required now. We don't want to be in the position we were in last season and Brian is working very, very hard to rectify the situation."
