Dean not blaming defence
Dean Saunders was not blaming his defenders for Wrexham's latest defeat, which casts serious doubts over the Clubs chances of making the promotion playoffs.
Despite Wrexham conceding yet another goal from a set piece, Saunders said after the match "When a team loses, you can often blame the defence, but not today. I thought our back line did great, and our keeper hardly had a save to make"
" It was a case of good players not willing to have a shot at the other end" said the Wrexham boss.
" Our games in hand are now disappearing, so we are in a real battle and it's how we react which marks them out for the future" said Saunders speaking to the press after the match.
In reality, Wrexham's games in hand HAVE already disappeared, The Dragons now trail Fifth placed Torquay who occupy the final playoff berth by seven points, and their two games in hand will only take them to within a point. Although they have four games in hand on Stevenage, Wrexham trail the leagues form team by ten points. Kettering are also beginning to play themselves into the playoff picture, They have two games in hand on Wrexham and now have the same amount of points as the Dragons.
The battle for the playoffs is very tight with the teams as far as tenth placed Kidderminster Harriers still in with a realistic chance of making the top five.
