Firey derby ends with defeat for Dragons

Wrexham were beaten by two goals in the opening 15 mins as Shrewsbury dragged themselves into play off contention. Wrexham are still 5 points off the play off places and so now are the Shrews.

Denis Lawrence scored an own goal on 3 mins to set up a bad day.

Colin McMenamin then scored a pen in the 15th min. It took until the 78th min for Wrexham to pull one back from Matt Derbyshire but it wasn't enough.

Dean Bennett was sent off for Wrexham in the 14th min for handling on the goal line, McMenamin scored from the spot. McMenamin was himself sent off in the second half for a professional foul.
