From this summer sides in the Championship, League One and Two will move inline with Premiership sides operating under the constraints of transfer windows.
For the past three seasons, the 72 clubs outside of the Premier League have had exemptions regarding transfers, however, this will no longer apply with no further extensions being made.
Subsequently, all English clubs will have to abide by their ruling, with transfers permissible only in the off-season and during January.
An initial idea of court action was a possibility to allow clubs from the Championship, League One and League Two to deal throughout the year, however, the member clubs of the football league have already been notified of the changes with the league backing away from a possible legal dispute with the world's govening body.
The results of this could be quite consequential for some clubs in the future, and cause some considerable problems for some of the struggling teams.
