The 27-year-old will replace Dave Hibbert at Vale Park who he joined Preston.

Vale assistant boss Dean Glover said: "We couldn't have got a better replacement. He is an experienced lad with an old head and an eye for goal.

Trinidad international Sam scored 40 goals in 176 appearances for Wrexham with almost half of those coming from the bench after joining from Port of Spain in June 2000.
