Former Wales international midfielder Mark Jones is set to sign for ambitious Welsh Premier Super 12 side Bala Town.The out of contract 25-year-old, who was released by home-town club Wrexham at the end of last season, is set to sign a one-year deal at Maes Tegid.
Jones, linked with a Championship move after an impressive 2005-06 term for Wrexham, hopes to regain his love for football in the Welsh Premier.
He said: "The main thing is to enjoy my football as I haven't done for years."
Jones fired 15 goals from midfield during their League Two campaign of 2005-06 and Wrexham's young standout player, who regularly celebrated goal of the season contenders, was constantly linked with moves to the Championship.
But the Wrexham-born playmaker, who earned the first of his two Wales caps that season in the 4-0 win over Liechtenstein at the Racecourse, insisted he did not want to move away from home.
"I've always been a bit of a home-bird and not keen on moving away from home," Jones admitted.

"I had the opportunity to move on but I felt it was in best interest to stay at Wrexham."
He joined Rochdale in the summer of 2008 before re-signing for Wrexham a year later - but Jones' home-coming was not as successful as his first Wrexham spell.
Dragons boss Dean Saunders released Jones and 10 other players at the end of a disappointing Blue Square Premier season in April and now he is set to join best friend and former Wrexham midfield colleague Danny Williams at Bala.
Bala, about an hour's drive from Wrexham, train twice a week near Wrexham so is convenient for Jones.
"I've spoken to a few Blue Square clubs all around the country but I don't want to move away," Jones told BBC Sport.
"So it looks like I will sign for Bala. I'm not enjoying playing football full-time at all and have not for a few years.
"I don't know what it is, but I'm pretty much fed up of playing full-time. I'm sick of football and if I'm not enjoying it then I won't do it.
"The move to Bala is not to do with money, I could stay in the Blue Square and play for a team and earn much more money than I'll get playing part-time at Bala.
"But I began playing football as a youngster for the love of it, not for money, and I want to feel that way about football again."
Bala only won promotion to the Welsh Premier in 2009 after securing a Cymru Alliance title and league cup double.
And the club, who finished 11th last term, secured a place in this season's new slimmed-down top-flight when it met the Football Association of Wales' new ground criteria.
Jones, who is considering going to college to learn a trade, admits he considered quitting football altogether but said: "I don't really want to pack up football for good as I still love the game - I just don't enjoy it at the moment."
