Carey may well continue at the club in some capacity but his career as Wrexham manager is about to end. Wrexham have made it clear that they are going to appoint an experienced manager.

Brian Little has emerged as the main candidate ahead of Stan Ternant. Dragons Chairman Neville Dickens said of Brian Little

"He is our number one choice, but nothing has been done yet of course," he said.

"We're probably 36 hours away yet - there is a little bit of work to be done. Let's hope we can get the man we want.

He added: "He has a vast amount of experience. He's been at the highest level, he's been down in the lower leagues as well and he's left his mark wherever he's been.

"Those fellows are rare and you're not able to get them very often, they are not about."
