"No ifs or buts, the team that deserved to win today took the victory.
"We are constantly looking at the league table from the off. You know that you need your fifty-odd points to get yourself safe and you are always looking to make sure that you can get away from the bottom, it would be stupid not to.
"Obviously we want to improve and go forward, and I expect the club to do that but until you get those points on the board then you can't, You have seen us today and that was a poor performance.
"We need to get the fifty points in the first place to get us away from relegation trouble and then we can build from there.
"I think that it has always been the ambition of the club to get promotion. Of course that's everybody's ambition but as a manager you want to get enough points on the board to stop you getting relegated. That comes first and you hope to get those by January but were a long way short of that.
"The conditions weren't great but that was the same for both sides. There are no excuses; they looked like they wanted it more and they got what they deserved."

"The rest of the season is going to be a long hard scrap and there will be six or seven teams, if we can have a say about, will be in this fight. We have to now make sure we get our heads above them and don't start putting pressure on ourselves.
"We only had 12 fit pros available today and four youth players on the bench, but I would have had no hesitation in putting them on. You have to trust them, otherwise what's the point of having them on the bench in the first place.
