William's "gutted" by injury
WREXHAM striker Marc Williams says he is 'gutted' by a foot fracture that looks to have brought his season to a premature end after he was stretchered off during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Salisbury City at the Racecourse.
Marc had been in great form since being restored to the side when Dean Saunders took over in October.
The injury occurred when Williams stretched for a quickly taken Jon Brown free kick during Saturday's home game against Salisbury City.
In an interview with the Daily post Marc said, "I can't believe what happened. We have got ourselves into a good position in the table and I wanted to play my part in finishing the job.
"To to say I'm gutted is an understatement, but these things happen and my immediate priority now is to stay positive and work as hard as I can to start playing again in the shortest possible time.
"I tried to get on the end of a quickly-taken Jon Brown free kick, but as I moved off I heard a pop and knew straight away that something was wrong.
"I don't know how it happened, maybe my boot or a stud got caught in the ground, but it's a huge disappointment for me."
The injury is a massive blow for the club, and Dean Saunders admitted that he was unlikely to sign a replacement in time for tomorrow's visit to Crawley.
"It's a bit of a nightmare for us, to be honest, and for Marc as well," said. Saunders "He could be out for at least six weeks, which is a massive blow because he has scored 16 goals for me since I joined the club. Marc will be more disappointed than anyone, but that's a part of football that everyone experiences at some stage."
"I'm going to have to replace Marc and I'm already looking around , but it's no easy task and nothing is likely to happen in the next couple of days" revealed Saunders.
Wrexham travel to Crawley tomorrow night for a crunch league match. The Dragons are without a win in their last four matches and have been replaced in the playoff zone by Torquay United.
