"Jon has been out injured himself for a considerable period, so this arrangement has helped both parties, certainly in the short-term," said manager Denis Smith to the official website.
"Saturday's appearance against Swindon Town was his first extended run out at senior level since last October and he's continuing to benefit from working with us at Colliers Park.
"If he can carry on the form he showed at weekend, then that will really help us."
