WREXHAM SUPPORTERS fighting to save Wrexham AFC have today launched a unique fundraising campaign.
The line is the first of its kind to be set up, and Trust members are hoping thousands of people will “Ring for Wrexham” to help the club battle to save itself.
At the moment there is a temporary voicemail message, but new messages are in the pipeline.
Phil Wynn of the WST has spent two weeks setting up the phone line with network provider THUS/Demon and he hopes supporters and non-supporters alike will make a call, as the club helps countless youngsters in the county through the Football in the Community scheme.
Mr Wynn said: “If the WST succeeds in securing the club and ground for the fans, then the club will, for the first time, be owned by those who will ensure the club plays its part in developing a stronger community spirit within the borough.

“Many thousands of people who do not attend games still want to see the club survive, and we know there is overwhelming support in the community for Wrexham AFC.
We will also be asking football supporters across the
“Hopefully we can achieve a donation from every household in the borough.”
Denis Smith is due to record a message for the line over the next few days, and it is hoped some of the players will also record their own messages.
Geraint Parry, the club’s football secretary, said: “This is another novel way of raising money for the club, I have never heard of it being done before.
“It is a great use of modern technology that means that wherever they are in the country people can make a direct donation to the trust that will go to help the club itself.
“We often hear about the bad things associated with new technologies, but in this case everyone’s a winner.”

Calls from land-lines will cost £1.50, of which a minimum of £1.07 will be donated to WST´s campaign to save Wrexham AFC and The Racecourse Ground.
