Police to Consider Action on Guterman Tapes

Wrexham CID are meeting prosecutors this week to discuss audio tapes secretly recorded by Wrexham fan, Kenny Pemberton, which could incriminate Mark Guterman, former Chairman of the League One club.

Wrexham CID officers will take advice from the Crown Prosecution Service on Friday to determine whether or not they can take any action.

Guterman has taken out a gagging order to prevent anyone making the contents of the tapes public.

That injunction was lifted after a hearing at the High Court in Liverpool on April 22 where Pemberton agreed not to do anything with the tapes until a further hearing on May 27.

CID officers swooped at the High Court and took the tapes away and began an investigation into the matter.

Just yesterday it was revealed they were ready to step up their investigations.

Det Sgt Steve Lloyd said: "We have copies of the tapes and are just in the process of finishing listening to them.

"We will be going to the Crown Prosecution Service on Friday to see what, if any, action can be taken."

Guterman's injunction prevented Pemberton, Lindsay Jones and the Press making the tapes public.

Pemberton wants the public to know all the facts surrounding Wrexham FC's current crisis, a feeling shared by all Wrexham fans.
