"It's not a good result to start off with and I didn't think they were any better than us until they got the first goal," he said.
"Even then it looked as though we might be able to get back into it when their keeper was sent off, and the next goal would be important.
"But unfortunately it was them that got it and it sort of finished us off.
"Darlington have a very strong squad this season and you can't allow teams like them any space because they will just punish you. But although we are disappointed at the way things have turned out we can't feel sorry for ourselves as we have another game coming up soon."
