Robbo Gets Wales Call Up

Wrexham defender Steve Roberts has been called up to the Wales squad for Wednesday’s game with Hungary at the Millennium Stadium following injuries to Cardiff’s Rhys Weston and Danny Gabbidon, while Wet Ham defender Gavin Williams is also a doubt for the friendly.

Roberts has been called to the squad before, however, injury prevented him from getting a cap. Steve’s brother Neil, a Doncaster Rovers striker has already been capped for his country playing at the Racecourse in a game against Switzerland.

In a troubled season for Wrexham, which has seen the team suffer many key injuries and of course the deduction of 10 points as the club entered administration, Roberts has been in outstanding form and influential at the heart of the Wrexham defence, particularly in recent games, including Wrexham's impressive 0-0 with high-flying Doncaster Rovers where he faced his brother Neil.

The last Wrexham player to gain a cap for Wales was Chris Llewellyn last summer in games against Norway and Canada.
