With 17 Wrexham players out of contract this summer, Denis Smith, it would seem, has lost his first key player, with
Roberts, 25, wanted to secure his future after Wrexham went into administration and suffered relegation to League Two last week. After agreeing personal terms with Rovers, he will sign on 1 July.
Roberts was a major part of keeping Wrexham hopes of survival alive with a solid season at the heart of the defence and was one of the players earmarked to leave the club this summer.
