Saunders: We'll bounce back
Wrexham manager Dean Saunders is confident that his side can bounce back from their disappointing loss to Eastbourne Borough, which took them to six games without a win.
The Dragons mentor admitted that the team's poor showings of late have been a matter of concern, but that they could turn their fortunes around and achieve a top five finish.
He told the Daily Post: "We have got ourselves into a situation now where the games in hand have evaporated so we have a fight on our hands.
"But we've done it before and we can do it again. We have to take the disappointment and bounce back.
"If you can't do that you'll never make it as a player and that's what separates the good ones from those are who are not so good."
The Racecourse Ground side failed to create a single clear goalscoring chance and were made to pay after a late Eastbourne goal.
He continued: "Looking at our performance, I was just really disappointed that we coasted through the game.
"We didn't look in any trouble, but not for the first time we let the other team off the hook.
"I just felt that we needed a goal all the way through the first half. We had most of the ball and we played most of the game in their half and I thought our back four played well.
"Our goalkeeper had nothing to do, but we needed to score because these teams are always going to get one or two chances.
"I'm not sure whether the keeper could have got the corner, and I don't even think it was a corner, but somebody got a free header.
"Everyone knows what their jobs are and I spend hours and hours talking about marking from corners, so when one of them goes in it's like pulling my teeth out without an anaesthetic.
"It will cost us promotion if we don't cut it out and the worst that should have happened today was 0-0.
"For us to have so many good players on the pitch and for us not to create any chances was a big surprise to me. But there were not enough crosses going in, not enough through-balls, the strikers never got any shots in, the midfield men didn't get any shots in and there were not enough people on the pitch who could win the game for us.
"When I look at the line-up they are good players and they should be able to do it. We have to be beating teams like that."
The former Wales International again stated the importance of finding a replacement for the injured Marc Williams.
He concluded: "We can't carry on like that and it's worrying we are not creating as many chances as we did before.
"We're missing Marc, who makes a difference, but we should have buried Salisbury, we had chances to put Burton to bed and we should have beaten Ebbsfleet at home.
"Today was the same because we missed an opportunity to win another game. The players will go home tonight knowing they have not done their jobs, but we have to keep our heads now and come out again on Tuesday and win the game.
"I thought the whole defence played well today but I could see what was going to happen today after we couldn't score. And it was not the defence's fault that we lost."
