The club sit 4 points off 7th place with 3 games to go.
"I've been in a bad mood for the past 10 days, but fair play to the lads they dug in against Rovers," Denis Smith said.
"They have defended well and it was important we kept a clean sheet.
"No matter we've been in administration and had bad injuries and all the other excuses - the play-offs are the minimum we should be looking for."
Rovers coach Paul Trollope finds his team 4 points off the play offs as well and he's accepting that it will be tough to make it into the top 7. Speaking after the Wrexham defeat he said
"Now we have to win all our remaining games and hope others slip up. But I've always been a fighter through my career and we'll keep fighting until it's mathematically impossible.
"We conceded an early goal after a poor piece of defending and that was disappointing, but we were pleased with the way we played in the second half.
"We controlled a lot of the game but didn't have enough in the final third.
"Against Wrexham we didn't go down with a whimper because we threw everything at them and it wasn't to be. But that shows we are lacking when it comes to winning the games that matter."
