"We didn't pass the ball at all well, nothing like we normally do, and I can only say the better team won.
"I was hoping we were going to hang on because I couldn't see us creating anything. By our standards, it was an extremely poor performance.
"Considering how much play they had, Rochdale didn't create a great deal, but it was attack against defence," said Smith.
"When we're playing at home it shouldn't be that way. Once we get it, we should be able to do something.
"I was getting nothing at all back. Chris Llewellyn was the only one forward wise who looked as though he was at the races."
