Wrexham boss Denis Smith has said he could be active in the transfer market until the end of July as he attempts to put together a squad to get them out of League Two.
Smith started his plans off for the new season last month by releasing four players and offering new deals to seven of his out-of-contract players.
So far, however, only youngsters Simon Spender and Levi Mackin have signed up, with the futures of Juan Ugarte, Craig Morgan, Mark Jones, Matty Crowell and Hector Sam unknown.
The players had until June 21 to accept the deals under Football League rules, but that deadline has now passed.
However Smith said: "I don't work to those kind of deadlines. I have a different way of doing business."
Smith revealed that
Ugarte is the one player wanted by a whole host of clubs across the Football League with no fewer than eight teams having declared interest in him with Crewe and Cardiff City being rumoured to be favourites to land the Basque hitman should he leave the Racecourse.
Smith added: "I will know what's going on with Juan if and when something happens. He has no intention of doing anything without letting us know about it first."
"I can't see much happening until the beginning of July and I might not have my squad sorted until the end of July. That's the deadline I'm working to anyway."
Despite talk of two new singings in north Wales in recent weeks, the only new face at the Racecourse has been former Sunderland goalkeeper Michael Ingham
