As Liverpool prepare for their Champions League tie with TNS, they come to the Racecourse today to take on a Wrexham side which is just days into their own pre-season training and featuring several new names.
Wrexham have lost Craig Morgan, Chris Llewellyn and Juan Ugarte in the last week while Rodney Jack (trial), Lee McEvilly, Dave Bayliss, Lee Roache and Mike Ingham have all joined the club over the summer.
Both clubs expect there to be a capacity crowd at Racecourse for with the European Cup on parade before the game and news that Liverpool talisman and captain Steven Gerrard and defender Jamie Carragher have both signednew four-year deals with the Merseyside club, just days after Gerrard announced he wanted to leave the club.
Speaking about playing Gerrard said: "The only thing I can say is that the quicker I can pull on a red shirt again, the better.
"Hopefully, that means I will be able to play at Wrexham and then again against TNS when we begin the defence of our European crown."
The game is essentially a warm up for Liverpool with Denis Smith experimenting with his new players and possible newline ups, while Rafa Benitez is believed to be giving run outs to some of his stars ahead of Wednesday's Champions League first round qualifying tie against TNS.
