Carey has called on his side to maintain standards
Manager Brian Carey says he can build Wrexham around goal-hero Jeff Whitley after the 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers.

"Jeff didn't have the best game, but he's a winner as he showed late on," he said of the on-loan Cardiff midfielder.

"Although he took it well, he wasn't brought in for his goals. We're looking to build this team around him and he's running the show at the moment."

Despite the win, the Dragons remain in the relegation zone as other results at the bottom went against them.

"Our standards have been very high in the last four games, but we have to continue that," said Carey, who has just two wins from 15 matches in charge.

"I thought that our discipline was excellent, after the problems we've had in that regard in recent weeks.

"There's a lot of football to be played and the situation will change week by week, but they're all cup finals now."
