Matthew Tipton is believed to be wanted by Wrexham boss Denis Smith as he looks to patch a squad together to push for promotion from League Two this season.
Bangor-born Tipton, 24, was one of ten players released by Macclesfield this week and is the target of many clubs across the football league.
Tipton's agent, Wayne Elsey said: "Darlington, Mansfield, Wrexham, Swansea and Cheltenham have expressed an interest.
"They all wanted to be contacted once Matthew had spoken to Macclesfield so I will be speaking to those clubs in due course."
Tipton joined Macclesfield in 2001 from Oldham Athletic, scoring 50 goals in 151 appearances for the League Two club.
