Two of Wrexham’s key players today announced they want to stay with the club next season, despite being out of contract in just two weeks time.
Talismanic striker Juan Ugarte, whose goals have helped the club to win the LDV Vans Trophy and attracted interest from across the Football League, and winger Carlos Edwards, who since returning from a long-term injury has been running past defenders for fun, have both said they want to stay with relegated Wrexham.
The pair say they will remain at the troubled club as long as reasonable deals can be agreed.
Spanish star Ugarte, who joined Wrexham from non-league side
Edwards, also out of contract this summer, has said he wants to help the club jump straight back to League One.
This news will be welcome relief to manager Denis Smith who was today meeting with administrators to begin plans to shape a squad for the start of the new season in August.
Smith would like a squad of at least 20 senior players, but has just eight contracted past the summer.
