Valentine and his co players are keen to pay back outgoing boss Brain Carey for his faith in them by turning the season around.
"All the lads feel as though we've let Brian (Carey) down over the course of the season. He worked hard with us in training and did everything to try and turn around our season, but we just haven't performed on the pitch.
"So we are all delighted Brian and Steve Weaver have said they will stay on at the club. We all feel as though we need to pay them back."
As for the new boss Valentine is looking forward to working with Brian Little starting with the weekends derby at the Racecourse.
"I think whether the new manager had come in or not the local derby match with Chester is always a good game," he said.
"It's a game that will always carry some spice with it, and I would like to think whether the new manager came in or not, the lads would still really be up for the match.
"But with the new manager coming in as well, you just know everyone is really going to be up for it. All the local lads have friends or family and people in the street telling them that if we are only going to win one game this season that it better be this one."
