Walsall v Wrexham Team News

Wrexham boss Denis Smith has welcomed Basque striker Juan Ugarte’s return to his side.

Ugarte’s absence was notable against Doncaster last weekend as Wrexham drew 0-0, especially as Ugarte had scored six goals in four games for the League One strugglers.

Ugarte replaces former Spurs hit-man Chris Armstrong who has a thigh strain, and the boss said: "We are in pretty good shape and we are looking more like a team again.

"As Juan has got a few goals, the lads are beginning to play with the belief that we can convert the chances."

Midfielder Danny Williams misses Saturday's League One trip to Walsall, while the man expected to cover for Williams, Jim Whitley, reported an illness yesterday and may not make the journey to the Bescot.

Should he fail to make the team youngster Levi Mackin may fill in the defensive midfield role as Smith looks for someone to stop Walsall dangerman, player-boss, Paul Merson from doing much damage.

This fixture at the Racecourse earlier produced a 1-1 draw, with Wrexham capitalizing on sleepy defending by Walsall, only for them to produce a strong second half performance and ensure the match ended all square.

Both clubs will be hoping to ensure no trouble ensues this time, as Walsall fans went on a rampage after the game in Wrexham, burning a Welsh flag, setting off extinguishers on a train and abusing a pregnant woman and other bystanders.
