Arfon backs Wrexham owner
Arfon Griffiths, Wrexham's 67-year-old club president and legendary player who made over 700 appearances for the club, has given his full support to the side's millionaire owner Geoff Moss.
Griffiths Believes the club are fortunate to have Geoff Moss at the helm. Speaking to The Daily Post, Griffiths said "The club is moving in the right direction and, in these difficult economic times, I think the club is fortunate that Geoff is at the head of it" "He has personally bankrolled Wrexham of late because there has been very little, if any, income in recent weeks, yet even with a big staff we have been able to cope."
Griffiths recently resigned as president of the Wrexham Supporters Trust, having failed to resolve differences between Moss and The Trust.
"I was hoping to bring them together, but that has not been the case.
"What was already a difficult balancing act for me was made more difficult by the Trust's reaction to the planned (Racecourse) development."
The Wrexham Village development is seen as a threat to the clubs future by some Trust members and other fans but Griffiths insists that this is not the case. Griffths pointed out to The Daily Post that it was Mr Moss and Fellow Director Neville Dickens who brought the club out of administration.
"Nev and Geoff were the only two people who came forward when the club was in administration and their motives were the right ones.
"Geoff is a football nut and his life virtually revolves around Wrexham at the moment". "I know Geoff is in a fortunate position after selling his business, but nevertheless he has spent a lot of time and money to try and get this club back on its feet."
"I believe Geoff's motives are genuine and that his plans are the right ones for the club."
The club have recently issued a statement regarding the proposed Wrexham Village development, which includes plans to build a Student flats on the Kop site followed by building of a new Kop stand.
In the statement, the club outline their plans to build a new kop stand on the existing site as part of the development project.
