James Hayter scored a hat-trick in three minutes after coming on as a substitute in the 84th as Bournemouth crushed ten-man Wrexham 6-0 at Dean Court.
The Cherries were already three goals in front and coasting to victory when Hayter replaced Steve Fletcher.
By then Wrexham were down to ten men after losing defender Stephen Roberts in the 56th minute for hauling back Warren Feeney as the Irish striker attempted to run clear.
Wrexham were not helped either when Brian Carey came off with 11 minutes remaining but, by then, the game was won and lost.
Wrexham never recovered from going behind after only three minutes when Danish midfield player Claus Jorgensen fed a perfect pass for Stephen Purches to score with a right-foot shot.
Wrexham held on until just before half-time when Warren Cummings crashed home a left-foot shot from a pass by Jorgensen for his first goal since November 2000.
After Roberts had been dismissed Feeney took a return pass from Jorgensen three minutes later to beat Andy Dibble with a right-foot shot.
Steve Fletcher hit the underside of the bar and Dibble made outstanding saves from Jorgensen and Marcus Browning before Hayter was thrown into the action with blistering effect.
Hayter had barely been on the pitch for more than a few seconds when he was left unmarked to head in a centre from Brian Stock.
Moments later the Wrexham defence were split as Hayter ran clear to score with a right-foot shot.
Then, in the 88th minute, a pass from Cummings left Hayter with time and room to complete his hat-trick.
Hayter was restored to the side only after missing Saturday's defeat at Brighton because his girlfriend was giving birth to their first child, a boy.
There was little consolation for Wrexham who might of levelled the early goal from Purches had Carlos Edwards been on target from 15 yards after being played in by Chris Llewellyn.
