Crawley Town 1 Wrexham 0
Wrexham lost out to a fortunate second half goal in dreadful conditions at Broadfield Stadium, and now are worryingly six points adrift of the playoff pack
Jamie McCluskey was the only change to Saturday's line up, replacing the injured Marc Williams while Michael Proctor was given a place on the bench.
In terrible conditions Wrexham started with the wind on their backs and looked lively in the early stages.
Louis got behind the Crawley defence, but his cross evaded everyone while Flynn, McCluskey and Brown all had long range efforts which failed to bother the Crawley Goalkeeper.
The best chance of the half fell to Crofts right on half time, his shot being cleared off the line with Raynor beaten in the Crawley goal.
Crawley with the wind at their backs began to exert some pressure in the second half without troubling Ward too much
Midway through the second half Wrexham carved out their best opportunity when Louis got behind the Crawley defence but his excellent cross was headed wide by Flynn.
Minutes later Crawley were ahead. A headed clearance from Ashley Westwood was met with a speculative overhead kick by Simon Wetherstone, the ball looped over Ward and into the net.
Despite showing energy and desire Wrexham were unable to create a game saving chance, and the Crawley players celebrated taking a big scalp when the whistle blew.
Wrexham are now six points behind Torquay United who occupy the final playoff place, and Dean Saunders will surely be looking to bring in a new strike force ahead of the trip to Eastbourne.
