Macclesfield went close to clinching their first victory of the season but had to make do with a point following a goalless draw at Wrexham.
Martin Bullock came close to gaining three points for the Silkmen in the 79th minute when he broke free and, with only keeper Mike Ingham to beat, his shot flashed across the face of goal and hit the post.
Within a couple of minutes there was another escape for Wrexham with substitute John Murphy meeting a Carl Regan corner which he headed inches wide of the target.
Wrexham did almost snatch it in the 81st minute when Mark Jones shot inches wide. It would have been cruel on Macclesfield had they not come out of this encounter with at least point.
It could have been a different story however. Maheta Molango fluffed three glaring chances to mark his debut on loan from Brighton for the Dragons.
Twice he was put through by Darren Ferguson and first he miss-kicked and then shot wide. And in the second half he was again through but missed a chance of making amends for his previous mistake.
Wrexham had two goal line clearances to deny gallant Macclesfield. In the first half Ferguson was on the line to deny a corner from Matthew Tipton going directly into the net and then Michael Williams in the dying moments somehow stopped an effort from Murphy.
The only thrill of a dreary first half came with a flashing header from Steve Evans early on and then those misses by Molango. But Jonny Brain had to be on form to keep out shots from Kevin Smith, on loan from Sunderland, and Mark Jones.
The Silkmen's first real attack came in the 23rd minute when Ingham managed to keep out a shot from Tipton.
The crowd had to wait until the second half for any real excitement and Wrexham at times were outplayed by the Silkmen with Alan Navarro and Bullock pulling the strings in midfield.
The game seemed all over when the lively Bullock swept downfield but then saw his shot beat Ingham but hit the post.
