Wrexham and Milton Keynes Dons fought out a tense goalless draw in a relegation six-pointer at The Racecourse Ground.
Defender Craig Morgan was Wrexham's hero with a vital clearance off the line with 15 minutes left after goalkeeper Len Foster spilled a shot from Dons sub Jason Puncheon. The ball ran lose to Izale McLeod who jabbed it towards the net from close range but Morgan hacked it away to safety.
And in the last minute visiting keeper Matt Baker denied his former club a win they so badly wanted when he got across his goal to block Hector Sam's shot with his legs.
Wrexham started the game on the attack and nearly broke through as Chris Llewellyn, Mark Jones and Matty Crowell all had shots blocked in a packed defence.
Other openings were missed as Dennis Lawrence headed wide and the speedy Carlos Edwards unleashed a drive that flew yards off target into the stand.
Wrexham's leading scorer Juan Ugarte had a header saved and from the next half chance Crowell shot wide.
McLeod might have done better when he hooked over from the edge of the box and when put through again by Shola Oyedele, he came up against a tough tackle from Dragons defender Steve Jones and screwed his shot past a post.
At the other end Jones used his speed to nip through the Dons rearguard but his 18-yard drive flew too high and when Andy Holt managed a shot on target Baker made a comfortable save.
The visitors defended in depth, trying to catch Wrexham on the break. McLeod nearly scored with an angled shot across the goal and minutes later Michel Pensee-Bilon had a header saved.
Wade Small was stretchered off with an ankle just before the hour but manager Danny Wilson said it was not a serious injury afterwards.
