This match gave both sets of fans their money's worth with goals, glaring misses, a sending-off and both sides disappointed not to get three points.
Wrexham's birthday boy Andy Morrell wanted to score to mark the occasion and he did it in style with two quick goals in three minutes but he still wasn't happy. He said: "I was pleased to score but I really wanted a win."
And the lad's 29th birthday party was upset when team-mate Carlos Edwards was shown a straight red card a minute before half time following an incident with Colin Woodthorpe.
Jon Newby pulled a goal back for Bury, finishing with a powerful 15-yarder after Pawel Abbott broke on the left, beat three tackles and pulled the ball back.
Newby added the second goal early in the second half, courtesy of a terrible mistake by Paul Barrett.
The Wrexham midfielder gave a weak backpass which was never going to reach goalkeeper Andy Dibble and let in Newby in. He raced on a few paces, rounded the keeper and angled an accurate shot into the far corner as Steve Roberts raced back to try and keep it out.
Morrell's opening goal was a cracker. He took a cross from Paul Edwards, controlled it, turned and hit a left-foot shot to Glynn Garner's right.
His next goal was pretty smart too, this time from the penalty spot after Michael Nelson sent Hector Sam sprawling just inside the area. Up stepped Morrell for a right-footer inside the right post.
That was his 12th goal of the season and he nearly completed his hat-trick when Darren Ferguson put him through with a perfect free-kick, but Morrell's shot hit the post and bounced clear.
After that he danced through past a couple of tackles and curled the ball wide over the angle of post and crossbar.
Barrett had a chance to make amends for his earlier mistake only to waste it, with a shot that gave Garner an easy save and then when he was put through again he fired straight into the keeper's arms
