Wrexham's topsy-turvy season got back on the right track as a Scott Green brace helped the Red Dragons secure a fine 2-0 win against runaway Nationwide Division Three leaders Hartlepool United at the Racecourse Ground.
The three points lift Denis Smith's side up to sixth in the table and with a great chance of finishing in the play-off zone at the end of the campaign.
Wrexham got off to the perfect start when Green netted in only the third minute.
Paul Edwards did well to beat his defender before setting up Green to fire a fine shot past Anthony Williams.
Wrexham, who were only relegated last season, almost doubled their lead in the tenth minute when Edwards set up Green again, but this time he headed over the bar from close range.
Craig Morgan saw a header cleared off the line as Wrexham continued to dominate against a strangely lethargic Hartlepool side.
Lee Trundle almost profited from a Williams error at the end of the first half but he blasted wide when he should really have scored.
Wrexham sealed all three points midway through the second half with another Green goal.
This time it was Trundle who set up the former Wigan man to curl a great shot past Williams.
