Yeovil knocked 20 Football League clubs out of the FA Cup in their non-league days - and they are still in the giant-killing business.

Now in the third division, they powered their way to an impressive victory over Denis Smiths team which is riding high in division two.

Both teams had pacy strikers but it was Yeovil's Kevin Gall who managed what Wrexham's Hector Sam could not by getting a goal six minutes before half time. Lee Johnson broke down the right and Gall nipped in to head past Andy Dibble .

At the break it was anyone's match but Yeovil got the important second goal within a minute of the re-start. The build up came from the left and Nick Crittenden provided the cross for man of the match Gavin Williams to sidefoot home.

Yeovil were now in full cry and two more goals quickly followed to put the game out of Wrexham's reach. Johnson's right-wing corner was headed home firmly at the far post by left back Colin Pluck on the hour and ten minutes later Williams and Paul Terry - brother of John - combined neatly to provide Jake Edwards with a tap in.

The only blot on Yeovil's performance came two minutes from time when a slip by Adam Lockwood let in Chris Armstrong, one of the Wrexham's subs, in for a consolation goal.

Wrexham had ten shots at goal in the second half but Armstrong's was the only one on target - a statistic that gives the Wrexham management food for thought as they continue to push for a second consecutive promotion.

Meanwhile, Yeovil will be hoping the Sky TV cameras continue to follow them - they have scored 13 times in their last four televised appearances.
