Denis blamed the injury crisis at the club for his side's 5-1 defeat against Luon Town on Saturday.
"With just 12 fit players it's asking a lot to come to a club going as well as this and get a result," said Smith.
"You can't play top of the league with a non-contract player and two YTS boys, and now Dennis Lawrence is injured.
"Most of our injuries are long term so it's going to be difficult until we can bring people in. Hopefully that'll be soon and we'll still have a club here."
