Supporters' Trust Collects £2000 at Doncaster Game

Last updated : 31 January 2005 By Charles

I can announce that Saturday’s game with Doncaster Rovers netted the Wrexham Supporters’ Trust (WST) £2020, taking their total accrued so far to £76,000 and probably mounting as the hours go on.

I’d like to say a personal thank you to all those supporters who continue to donate money every game they attend, and also to the generous supporters of Doncaster Rovers and the other teams who made it to Wrexham on Saturday, we will be forever indebted to you for your support and generosity towards us, and I can guarantee that my sentiments will be echoed in all Wrexham supporters everywhere.

We are absolutely amazed with the support we continue to receive everywhere, with teams the length of the UK holding donations for us or doing something for us. I may be wrong, but this is possibly the most help and support given to a club in trouble yet which we will be forever grateful to the clubs who have offered their time, effort, and donations – the response has been fantastic, and we will turn this around, and we will fight on because Wrexham is the Name, and whether we are in League One or Two next year, rest assured Wrexham will remain a part of the 72 football league clubs for sometime to come.

We may never make it to the Premier League, except in Football Manager 2005 in my case, but we will be forever a part of the fixture list, and will forever welcome fans to our town – or city should we ever win city status – we will never die, so long as there is the determination for our club to survive we will survive, and we owe a lot of it to the real football fans from across Wales, England and further afield as well.

I hope each and every fan of any club who has donated even 20p to Wrexham and the Supporters’ Trust feels immensely proud of themselves, as we are proud of each and everyone of you, and while we’ll happily take your money from you off the pitch, we’ll also try to take points off you on the pitch.

Well done to all of you, there is a blinding light at the end of the tunnel and the end of the troubled times is near as we move on to the next chapter in our history.

So thanks once again on behalf of Wrexham fans, and hope to see you all at a game soon!
